FOLSOM POINT AWARDED 2006 "SERVICE FIRM OF THE YEAR"
January 2, 2007
(Boulder, CO) - Folsom Point, Inc., a strategic marketing and management consulting firm, received the Service Firm of the Year award at the 24th Annual Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week awards luncheon held at the Arvada Center. Each year, MED Week honors successful minority entrepreneurs on a local, regional and national basis. The local MED Week events were conducted by the Minority Enterprise & Educational Development, Inc. (MEED), a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to positively impact Colorado's minority business communities through educational opportunities, training, recognition of business success and celebration of the state's cultural diversity.
Since its inception in 2001, Folsom Point has realized an average annual growth rate of 125 percent. This growth was largely due to the firm's ability to provide training and consulting services that helped businesses grow their revenue. One example of the company's work was with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Consultant Mentor-Protégé Program. This program connected Emerging Small Businesses (ESBs) with mentors to help them achieve success within the industry. Folsom Point was hired to provide one-on-one coaching and marketing and management support services to each of the protégés. As a direct result of Folsom Point's services, the protégés participating in the program collectively obtained over $800,000 in new contracts with CDOT.
After working with Folsom Point and winning a contract, George Cotton, President of GK Cotton Consulting said, "I think Folsom Point's coaching all the way through-from proposal to oral presentation to win-was great. They were really able to help us rise above our awkward engineering-speak and put our best foot forward."
